Treatment

Treatment for most cancers involves either surgery, radiation, chemotherapy, or a combination of these choices. Treatment is usually customized according to the person's age, overall health, the type of cancer, and its stage.

If colorectal cancer is diagnosed early enough, surgery frequently offers the best chance of a full recovery. However, other treatments may also be recommended. For more advanced cases of colorectal cancer, or in cases where it has recurred, chemotherapy is often used.

Chemotherapy has many side effects and it is normal to be worried, but thankfully most are temporary. Common side effects include fatigue, nausea, and emotional upset. Surrounding yourself with a support group will definitely help you cope with chemotherapy and lessen the impact of its side effects.
